News:
Game
# 6- Chattahoochee - 3/2/07 (L 0 - 2) The
Longhorns played a great match against the visiting Cougars but were
not able to come away with a victory. Even though Chattahoochee was a
highly ranked team in the state, they were severly tested by the
Longhorns. Colin Ross played an excellent game in goal with many great
saves. On two seperate occasions he prevented scores when faced with a
one on one situation, great job. The Longhorns held the Cougars to one
goal until late in the game. A highly questionable call by the referee
led to the second Cougar score.
Game
# 5 - Wheeler - 2/27/07 (L 2 -7) The
Men's Varsity traveled to Wheeler High School for their fifth game of
the season and were upset in a lopsided match.
Game
# 4 - McEachern - 2/23/07 (W 3-0 ) The
Longhorns really showed their metal against the McEachern Indians
Friday night. The Kell offensive pressed the Indians the entire game.
Kell had many scoring opportunities in the first half but could not
convert until late in the half. A foul was commited in the box which
set up David Velasquez for the penality kick. He drove it by the
goalie's left and low into the corner for the first score. Longhorns
managed two more scores in the second half. Michael Craddock managed to
get a foot on a rebounded ball for a chip shot into the goal. Toward
the end of the game Joe Dixon blew by two defenders for a one on one
against the goalie and Joe made him pay with the final score. The
defense shut down the McEachern offense for the most of the game. The
McEachern team could not put any real pressure on the Kell goal. A very
nicely played game by the Longhorn Men, congratulations guys!
Game
# 3- Campbell - 2/20/07 (L 1-2 ) The
Kell Longhorns faced a tough opponent Tuesday night when they matched
up against Campbell High School. The conditions were miserable with
continous rain during the game. During the first half the wind was
directly at the back of the campbell offense and contributed to their
first goal. The Kell offense was never able to get on track and force
an attack against the opponents goal. Campbell pressed on offense the
majority of the game and really worked the Kell defense. The Longhorn
defense did a wonderful job holding the strong Campbell offense to only
two scores.
Game
# 2 - Cherokee - 2/16/07 (W 2-0) The Kell Longhorn Men
looked determined in the second game and finished off their performance
with a shutout of the Cherokee High Warriors. The whole team looked
strong with the Kell midfield and forwards dominating play in the first
half. The defense completely shut down the Cherokee forwards for most
of the game which prevented the Warriors from mounting any kind of
controlled attack. The kell offense pressed the attack for most of the
game. A few unlucky bounces kept the score from being more lopsided.
Game
# 1- Rome - 2/15/07 (L 1-4 ) The season started with a
tough loss to Rome High School. The game was tied 1-1 at the half. The
longhorns were playing tough but the game became more physical than
soccer. At the start of the second half, Rome came out with two quick
goals. The longhorns were not able to recover from this deficit.
