Kell High School Soccer Booster Club
General Meeting
October 18, 2006
President Terry Shelton opened the first meeting for the 2007 season at 7:10 p.m. in the Kell High School Cafeteria.
Introduction of coaches:
Coach Goeckel was absent due to a family commitment.
Terry introduced the new Boys J.V. coach. Coach Finney stated that pre conditioning
begins after Thanksgiving. The “don’t pass, don’t play”
rule will be used this year. Shorter season with only less than a week for tryouts
in January. All players must have their physical forms turned in before they
can try out. Reminded everyone how important it is to join Booster Club.
Coach John Oshogber will be assisting again this year.
Coach Ayodele Bain will be the new Girls Varsity coach this year. He hails from Trinidad and played soccer in Texas. He just recently moved from Florida. Pre-conditioning begins in November. Boys and girls will condition together. Possible 2 a day practices before season begins and one a day after. All players must have physical forms turned in as well.
Coach Wood, who will be the new J.V. girls coach, was unable to attend due to a football commitment.
Terry introduced the current executive board, V.P. Jack Shriver, Treasurer:
Jim Ross
Boys Rep: Barry Pencek, Secretary: Colleen Haseltine, Girls Rep: Kathy Webster.
Jack Shriver went over new bylaws that were sent out to members and voted upon
before the meeting. (see attached sheet)
Jim Ross went over Budget, (see attached copy)
Few items mentioned: Varsity boys will get new uniforms, new socks will be ordered
this year, membership dues for coaches will be paid to National org. and Di-Varsity.
We are hoping to purchase new video equipment this year. Money is going to be
set aside from this year forth to help with future costs. Field maintenance
is a bargain at $500.00 considering what football pays.
Fundraising
Jack Shriver discussed the upcoming fundraisers. The club has decided to hold
the majority of it’s fundraiser before the season begins so the money
will know exactly how much money we will have to work with for the season.
Program Ad Sales. Packets were passed out to attendees. The rest will be passed
out by the coaches. All ads are due back at the beginning of December. It will
be
run the same way as last years with the exception of the majority of the ads
being put in by the time the season begins and pictures added the first week.
Cost of ads will be a little more this year. Ad books will be sold by the 2nd
or 3rd week of the season. If an athlete’s family placed an ad in their
honor and they do not make the team, their personal ad will be refunded. If
so many ads are sold, so much will be taken off their dues.
Carrabba’s on Barrett Parkway – Coordinator needed. We will be holding a dinner at the Kell Open House in January. Cost is $10.00 per ticket. We are asking every athlete to sell 10. This is a great community builder. Carrabba’s is also donating a $45.00 gift card for the employee of the month at Kell. A sign is up in the stadium advertising for Carrabba’s.
Car Wash at Arby’s on Bell’s Ferry. Kathy Webster will be calling to get volunteers for October 28th from 9:00 a.m – 3:00 p.m.
Spirit Wear: Barry reminded everyone that Mary Pencek was selling Kell Soccer Spirit Wear at a discount.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:10.
Respectfully submitted,
Colleen S. Haseltine
Kell Soccer Booster Club Secretary
